What Are You Thinking About?

Our mind is constantly in motion. Our thoughts are very powerful. We're always thinking about something! What we think about is what we tend to focus on. Every word and action starts as a thought. The more we think about something, the more likely the thought will lead to words and actions. However, it's up to us as to how long we let a thought stay in our mind. Our thoughts are good when they line up with the Word of God. Philippians 4:8 tells us exactly what we should be thinking about. The verse tells us that our thoughts should be true, noble, just, pure, lovely, things that are of a good report and things that are praiseworthy. Our thoughts should please God at all times. Now I know...there are times that we're going about our day and all of a sudden a wrong thought comes into our mind. We might think where did that come from. While we can't control all the thoughts that come in our mind, we can make a choice of how long it stays in our mind. Knowing the Word of God will help us recognize a wrong thought. Once we recognize a wrong thought, we need to reject it and speak against it. We need to think about what God's Word says instead and replace it with the Word. Wrong thoughts that stay in our mind too long lead to wrong actions. Here's what wrong thoughts look like: worrying, replaying past scenes over and over, putting ourselves and others down, thinking the words "never" and "impossible," not thinking the truth, thinking revenge and that everything is unfair. Wrong thoughts keep us from moving forward and giving our best. Wrong thoughts can cause us to miss opportunities, blessings and open doors that can be ours. So let's change our mindset. It's a daily process! Let's change our thinking. Let's think good thoughts.Think about the good that is going on in your current day. Think about the good going on in your life right now. Remember that things could be worse than what they are right now. Think about the truth in God's Word. Don't believe the opinions of others over the Word of God. God's Word is more valuable than any word you'll ever hear. Think about thoughts that uplift, motivate and encourage. Think thoughts that will encourage you to move forward, not backward. Let's encourage others to do the same. It's important to check our thoughts daily and constantly. We have to check the movies, music, television shows and conversations we watch and listen to. What we hear can have a positive or negative influence on us. We have to choose wisely. So let's ask ourselves these questions daily: Are my thoughts right or wrong? Good or bad? True or not true? Helping or hurting me? Encouraging or discouraging me? Pleasing to God? Not pleasing to God? As we go through our days, let's not forget each day to ask ourselves the most important question of all- What am I thinking about?
