Be Intentional

To do something with intention means to do it deliberately and on purpose. From the time we wake up in the morning to the minute we go to sleep at night, we need to know our life has purpose. Each day we live has a purpose. If we didn't have a purpose, God would not have allowed us to be here and live the days we have lived. As we go through our days, we need to keep in mind what we're doing and why we're doing it. Our "why" should stay in the front of our mind at all times. Knowing our "why" will help us live our life on purpose and for a purpose. Knowing our "why" will help us make right decisions. Knowing our "why"will keep us focused on the right path. Every day, we need to ask ourselves questions, such as, "Why am I doing this?", "Why am I going here?", "Why am I saying this?" and "Why am I hanging out with this person?" The answer to our "why" should be to honor God, others and ourselves. It should be to help us grow and encourage others to grow. It's the "why" that will remind us to be intentional in our daily lives. Living intentionally requires us to see our day with new lenses, a new perspective. We no longer do or say things just to say we did. We realize there needs to be a purpose for it. We also realize time is precious and valuable, so we have to use it wisely. We also need to have right motives. If we do something for the wrong reason, then that's not going to get us too far! Living intentionally means saying things that will only help and encourage others. If our words are not going to make the situation better, then we shouldn't say it. If what we're doing isn't going to help us or anyone else, we shouldn't be doing it. If we're only associated with people because of their title, they make us look good or we don't think better connections are coming along, then that's a wrong motive. Therefore, we need to seek out new and healthy connections. We need to ask ourselves if the places we go are helping us or hindering us. Let's work on being intentional in all we say, do and think. Let's be intentional in our connections and places we go. Le't make sure that we're doing things for the right reason. Let's make sure that we are using our time wisely. Live with purpose on purpose every day. Remember to ask the "why" question often. And, most of all, remember to be intentional!
