All Of Me

"All" means total, complete, lacking nothing. When we give our all, that means we give it everything we've got. In Deuteronomy 6:5, the word "all" is said in regards to loving God. We must love God with all of our heart, soul and mind. God wants all of us, every part. So let's take a minute and journey through the different parts of our body. Let's start at our mind. Our mind is constantly thinking about something. Sometimes, our thoughts are positive and other times they are negative. It's up to us to knock down the negative and not dwell on it. Instead, we must do our best to think on what God's Word says. God's thoughts are in His Word. We need to do our best to think about what Philippians 4:8 says as those thoughts please God. Next, let's talk about our eyes. Our eyes allow us to see things. We have to be careful what we look at. We see a lot in our day....on the computer screen and phone, TV, in books and magazines. After awhile, w...

A New Name

If you could choose a new name for yourself, what would it be? I've thought about this question before and a few names have come to my mind: Jessica, Sophie, Danielle, Sarah. Those are really good names! There was a time I wanted another name, but not now! I love my name Jennifer and know that fits me perfect! Now that's in the natural. But what if I told you in the spiritual that God wants to give you a new name? People in the Bible got new names every time God was about to do something great in their lives. For instance, when we look at Abraham and Sarah's name, that was not always their name. In Genesis 12, their names were Abram and Sarai. It wasn't until God was about to do something new in their life that God gave them a new name. In Genesis 17 verse 5, Abram's name changed as God made a promise to Him that he would be the father of many nations. His wife Sarah's name changed in verse 15 of that same chapter. God was about to bless them with a child in th...

Found!

When something is special to us, we hold it close to us. We don't want it out of our sight and we guard it all costs. Let's think about a cell phone for a minute. Most people take their phone with them everywhere. If you don't have it on you for some reason, you feel like a part of you is missing. When your phone is with you, you make sure you don't leave it behind. You make sure it's in your possession at all times. If you even think you lost or misplaced your phone, panic mode sets in real quick! You see, most people place a very high value on their cell phone. Let's look at a story found in Matthew 13:45-46 where we see something else that was valued. In the story, we see that someone (a merchant) is looking for something (pearls). A merchant is a person who buys and sells items to get money. In this case, the merchant was looking for fine pearls. Notice they were described as fine and he was looking for more than one because pearl is plural. Pearls are form...

What About Me?

Welcome back! Last week, we looked at a story about a father who had two sons. The focus was on the younger son who had returned home after leaving for a period of time. If you haven't read last week's post, "Run To The Father," I encourage you to go back and read that first and then come finish reading this. This week, I want to focus on the older son in Luke 15: 25-32. He enters the story after his brother comes back home and there's a party going on for him. In verses 25-26, we see the older brother has been in the field and is walking towards the house when he hears music. So he asks one of the servants who works there what's going on. He's curious like many of us would have been and especially if there was something going on at our house. We're like how come no one told me?! The servant goes on to tell him they're having a party for his brother (v.27). Now here's where it gets interesting because we're about to hear the brother's ...

Run To The Father

As the father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him. Psalm 103:13 Most parents want the best for their children. They want to see their children do well. They don't want to see any harm come to them. They don't want to see them go down the wrong road and make wrong decisions. Even when their children mess up, they love them anyhow. Yes, they make mistakes, but they realize and let their children know they're not a mistake. Mistakes are not our identity- it's a part of our story, but not who we are. When it comes to our earthly fathers, we all have different experiences. Some may know their fathers and have a good relationship or a not so good relationship. Others may not know their earthly father at all. Whatever your experience may be, I want you to know that our God is a Perfect Father who cares deeply about all of us and His arms are wide open to receive us. I want to stop here for a minute and take a look at the Bible sto...
