All Of Me

"All" means total, complete, lacking nothing. When we give our all, that means we give it everything we've got. In Deuteronomy 6:5, the word "all" is said in regards to loving God. We must love God with all of our heart, soul and mind. God wants all of us, every part. So let's take a minute and journey through the different parts of our body. Let's start at our mind. Our mind is constantly thinking about something. Sometimes, our thoughts are positive and other times they are negative. It's up to us to knock down the negative and not dwell on it. Instead, we must do our best to think on what God's Word says. God's thoughts are in His Word. We need to do our best to think about what Philippians 4:8 says as those thoughts please God. Next, let's talk about our eyes. Our eyes allow us to see things. We have to be careful what we look at. We see a lot in our day....on the computer screen and phone, TV, in books and magazines. After awhile, we need to give our eyes a break from the screen and turn away a few seconds from time to time (a word to the wise!). What we see does have an effect on us, whether we realize it or not. We need to make sure that the images and words we see are pleasing God. Now, let's take a look at the ears. With our ears, we hear (some of us hear too much!!). We need to be careful what we listen to and block out negativity that may come our way. That includes the social media feed, music, radio shows and conversations. We should be listening to the Word of God and doing our best to apply and live it in our daily lives. The Bible tells us in James 1:22 to not just hear the Word, but live the Word. Now let's take a minute and talk about our mouth (another part that gets us in trouble!). What we say is important and can have an effect on us and others. Once we say something, we can't take it back. We have to choose our words wisely and know when and what to say when we do speak (Ecclesiastes 3:7). We have to ask God daily to help us check our words (Psalm 141:3). Then, there's our hands. Are they reaching out to call the phone number or send the text message to gossip or to encourage and pray? Are you giving someone a hug, high five, handshake, or pat on the back (social distance style at the moment!)? We have to let people know we appreciate them and offer to help in any way. Next, let's take a look at our feet. Our feet allows us to walk and go places. We need to make sure where we're going and what we're doing while we're there is pleasing to God. Also, there are some things we need to walk away from, things that will hinder and stunt our growth. Most importantly, let's use our feet to keep walking forward. The last part of the body we need to look at is the heart. We hold a lot in our heart. God wants to take things not right out of us and give us a clean heart (Psalm 51:10). Proverbs 3:5 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding." With everything in us, we have to trust God and give Him all of our heart and leave no room for foolishness. As we have looked at the different parts of our body, may we all do our best to give our all every day. God bless!
