Get Excited Again!
What gets you excited? What makes you smile just thinking about it? Who motivates you? Who uplifts you by just being in their presence? These are the questions I want us to think about today. You see, life has a way of getting us down and making us feel like we're not doing enough. It has a way that can make us feel like we're not enough. Life circumstances can be disappointing and discouraging. I'm here to tell you that even in the hard times, we can find something to get excited about. Every day of our life may not be exciting, but we have to find something that will make us smile. We have to find something or someone that will remind us of our purpose. All of us here today, young and old alike, have a purpose π. For those who may not know, I am a 6th grade English teacher at a middle school. In addition to teaching, I am also an advisor of the Bible Club that meets after school twice a month. I love teaching and advising Bible Club π! This month of March has been good and filled with wonderful celebrations, which I loved! At the same time, I felt like March was a whirlwind and had very busy and exhausting days for me. It was in one of those weeks that Bible Club had an after school meeting. I remember being extra tired that week. I remember resting the night before because I hadn't rested earlier in the week like I should have π. I remember praying that God would lead and guide the meeting. I remember that Thursday after school, the students came to the meeting excited and ready to learn and have fun! Let me tell you, all of that and more happened! I, along with another advisor, were in awe and full of joy of all God had done. First, it was the biggest number in attendance we had all year long! Praise God π!! Second, the whole theme that day was about standing up for what is right. A skit was performed by the students about the Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace because they refused to bow down to the image that the king built (go check out Daniel 3 if you haven't). Different verses from Daniel 3 were read aloud by the students. Third, students got together in small groups to practice putting the books of the Old and New Testament in order. They love it and make a competition out of who finishes first! It's fun to watch them π!! The important part is all are learning and getting familiar with the books of the Bible. To top it all off, students were still talking about the meeting the next day (which was a Friday) and saying how that was the most fun and best Bible Club so far!! I felt the same way! Being at the meeting reenergized and reignited my faith π. I saw the story from Daniel 3 with a fresh set of eyes. It was on that Thursday afternoon (March 14th to be exact) that middle school students and their excitement helped me get excited again about my purpose and faith. Then, less than two weeks later, I got excited again, but this time about writing. I was presented with an opportunity to grow and learn as a writer, which I am grateful to God for. As I began to talk to the lady on the other end of the phone call who was telling me about the opportunity, I loved her spirit immediately! The more I listened and asked questions, the more I knew that this was more than a good thing. This was a GOD thing! There's a difference! I said yes to the opportunity π. Are you ready for the great news?! I am a trailblazer as part of a Beyond Adversity Women's Empowerment group! I will be a co-author as part of a book collaboration with other women writers. My story of overcoming adversity with losing my Mom and Dad will be in one of the chapters. I'll share more information as time goes on. I'm so excited for the new connections and new experiences ahead π. When I tell you, God is blowing my mind, HE is blowing my mind!! He's not finish yet!! He's just getting starting!! Guess what? He's not finished with you yet either π. I know every day may not be exciting, but remember we can be excited about something in that day. Get excited about your purpose and presence!! Get excited about God's presence and how He's working!! He's working right nowπ. Get excited about those God sends our way to remind us to get excited. So, what do you say?!! Let's get excited again!! Love and blessings to allπ !!
