Keep Being You
When we look around at our families and communities, we see uniqueness and diversity. We see people of all ages with different personalities and backgrounds. Each person has something to offer. Each person can help someone else along the way. Each person can accomplish goals and dreams that once seemed beyond their reach. Each of us are precious in God's eyes and loved the same. We should embrace how God made us. There can never be another you, and there can never be another me π. We all have likes, dislikes, and favorite things we like. We all have things we're really good at and things we need to continue to improve and make progress on. We all have different gifts and talents. We all speak with a different voice. Our clothing styles and hairstyles vary. Each person is unique, and that's okay π! Today, I want to encourage you to embrace your voice, your personality, and your style. I want you to own your likes and dislikes. I want you to keep being you π!! I have learned to love me for me. It's easy to get caught up in comparison and want to impress others. We should try not to impress others. Those who genuinely like us will like us for being ourselves. We won't have to pretend to be somebody else when the right people are in our circle. Comparison can be a good thing if we're encouraged and inspired by what someone is doing and want to do better ourselves. Let's make sure we are being our best selves. Let's make sure we are loving ourselves- mind, body, and soul π. Let's make sure we do things we enjoy. Let's laugh our laugh and smile our smile. Let's make sure we are being ourselves regardless of who's around us. Find the clothing and hair styles that work for you. Find hobbies that interest you. Do things that uplift and encourage you π. Try to do them as often as possible, which is something I'm learning more and more. When it comes to clothing and hair styles, I have found what works for me, and I'm so glad! When it comes to one of my hairstyles, one of my cousins likes to call it my "signature style." Find your signature style if you haven't already π. Recently, I heard one of my students talking about another student being short. I first addressed the fact the student should be nice. Then, I said something that I think surprised some of them. I said, "I'm short." I then told the student to own being short. I said I owned being short. I know that it's hard to hear that in middle school and many want to be tall, but I wanted the student to know in that moment that it was okay to be him. Here's my message to you: Embrace who you are. Own it (whatever your it may be- style, talent, laugh, etc.). Don't pretend to be someone you're not. Hold your head up high. Know God has a good plan for your life and has good things just for you π. Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do." As we're getting closer to 2024 ending and 2025 around the corner, don't stop being you π. Keep being you today, tomorrow, and always π!! God bless you all!!
