The Gift of Encouragement
For the last few weeks, I have shared about two gifts that we can give and receive. Those gifts are presence and time. Both of these are very valuable! If you haven't read those blog posts yet, be sure to go back and check out "The Gift of Presence" and "The Gift of Time." Today, I want to share about another gift that we can give and receive. Today's gift of focus is encouragement π! All ages can give and receive this gift! When we look at the meaning of encouragement, it means the action of giving someone support, confidence, or hope. It also is a persuasion to do or continue something. In our world like never before, encouragement is needed. We need to support and give hope to others often π. We never know what someone is currently going through. We never know what someone will face in the future. However, in that present moment, we can give an encouraging word. Encouragement doesn't have to be a long phrase. It could be a " I see you, " "I'm here for you," "I care about you,", "Keep up the great work," or "I love to see you growing and glowing." It could also be a compliment. Words can be great, but encouragement doesn't always have to be words. Encouragement can also be showing up in person for someone. Other times, it can be a kind action. A wave, smile, or a thumbs up can go a long ways π! Small, sincere gestures can be encouraging and powerful. It could be the video, post, or text message that is uplifting. We can all give encouragement, and I'm so grateful for that! I'm also grateful for the encouragement I receive. I'm grateful for my circle (family, friends, and church family) that keeps me encouraged. I'm thankful for my co-workers, students and their families who give me encouragement. God knows who and what you need in each season π. Some days, I need that extra encouragement, especially during the times I want to have a conversation with Momma and Daddy and can't and I'm missing my people a little extra. It's on the days that I'm exhausted and question if I've done enough and my best. It's the times I'm feeling stuck or it's been a hard day and that encouraging word is just the push I need. God always knows what we need, and I'm so grateful!! Remember the encourager needs encouragement too. We also need to be poured into. We also need to rest and be still. It's great to pour encouragement and wisdom into others, but we all need to be poured into also. When I am encouraged, it can make my whole day π. Proverbs 16:24 says, "Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the taste and health to the body." Our words and actions are powerful! Proverbs 12:25 says, "Anxiety in a person's heart weighs it down, but a good word cheers it up." Whenever we have the opportunity to help cheer someone up, let's do it π. You never know the positive impact that will have on someone. Be grateful for all that come along to encourage you. Those who continue to encourage me- thank you so much!! Be thankful for the encouragement you can give. It all matters π!! Remember, encouragement is a beautiful gift. Let's be open to giving it and receiving it. Let's cherish it and use it wisely. God bless you all!!
Encouragement goes along way and cost you nothing!!!!
