The Details Matter
You know the fine print words we tend to skip over and not read? The question asked to you about how your day went? The times when someone remembers a little known fact you shared about yourself or a situation? It all matters. It may seem small at the time, but it's really big. In fact, it's all the small things that add up to the big things 😊! When we think about details, it's an individual feature, fact or item. It is a specific piece of information. In my recent devotional time, I was reading Exodus 31 in the Bible. The chapter talks about how God had appointed skilled workers to design the items and clothing placed in the sanctuary. In addition to reading chapter 31, I also read Exodus 25:31-36 and Exodus 27:9-10, which shared how detailed the lampstand and curtains needed to be. It is very descriptive and detailed. Very detailed!! They were instructions spoken by God to Moses. You should definitely go back and read those Scriptures when you get a chance. It had me thinking, God cares about the details! Not only did God care about his people and sanctuary in the above mentioned Scriptures, but he cares about every detail of our lives 💚. He pays close attention to each and every one of us. I'm so glad!! Luke 12:7 says, "Indeed, the hairs of your head are all counted." He knows it all! As I reflect back on July, it was filled with bright spots and blessings, but also lots of loss. In my own community, several individuals passed away. We also saw in our world where there was lots of loss also. In regards to the four individuals who passed away in my community, I had the privilege to be in their presence, have conversations and laughter with them in the time they were here. They all knew my Mom and Dad very well. In fact, one individual in particular had just been at church that morning before she passed. I sat by her in Sunday School class that sunny morning. I got to see that beautiful smile, but I didn't know it would be the last time I would see her beautiful smile as she passed away that Sunday night. She told me something in regards to a comment about our class discussion and we both laughed. I remember her holding my hand for a minute and tapping my arm lightly (a grandmotherly touch, if you will 💜). I didn't know it would be last time I would hold her hand. It's her smile, laugh, and touch that I remember. It's those details that matter and the ones that I now cherish. I always try to be observant, but now I'm extra observant and pay attention to the details. The last couple of weeks especially have reminded me to pay more attention to who and what is around me, be more self-aware, and be more focused in my conversations and interactions. The details do matter 😊. The hug. The smile. The check in call or text. The wave. The laugh. Recalling little known facts. Finding out how someone's day went. Being thankful for my daily blessings and the ability of all my senses. The encouraging post/video. I read a post not long ago that says not to save anything for a special occasion. The mere fact that we're alive is a special occasion. Being able to a breathe is a big detail! Life is a gift and let's cherish every moment 💚. Let's continue to be self-aware and pay attention to the details of our lives. While we're being self-aware, let's not forget to check in and love on others. The real friend won't mind hearing about every little detail of your day or situation. Remember we can tell God everything about our day also because he cares about the details. Today's post is simply reminding us not to overlook the small stuff. God cares about the details and we should too. We have a lot to be grateful for. Be thankful for the big and small blessings. The details do matter 😊. May God continue to bless you all!!
