Search In Silence
When we search for something, we take a real close look at every space and place you can think of. We all have had the moment when we lost something and we look everywhere! We know we just had it! We may also retrace our steps and think of everything we did leading up to losing it. Sometimes, the item we're looking for is in a place we didn't think it would be. Other times, the item was sitting in a very obvious place (our pocket or bag on usπ!) When we are searching, we may need to eliminate distractions and noise. We may need to sit or think in silence for a few minutes. In addition to physical spaces, there's somewhere else I encourage you to search today: your heart π. In fact, the end of the Scripture in Psalm 4:4 says, "Search your hearts and be silent." Too much noise may cause you not to focus as well. Too much noise may cause you not to think clearly. I know silence can be uncomfortable and we want to fill it really quick, but it can be good and needed to process information. That will help in knowing what you should say and how to respond to different situations. Our spiritual heart can carry a lot (Jeremiah 17:9-10, Proverbs 4:23)! We need to search it daily and see if what we're carrying is helping us or not. The writer David in the Scripture Psalm 139:23-24 says, "Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." This is something we should do daily- ask God to search our hearts and then be silent to what He wants to show and reveal to us. Sometimes, it's obvious, but other times, it might be more subtle and less noticeable. In the search, we can make choices that lead us right. We can ask God to help and strengthen us, and He willπ. Anything bad and not healthy needs to go, but it needs to be replaced with something good and healthy. We may simply get an encouraging reminder of something we already knew. The search needs to happen continually because there are things that can creep up in our heart that we don't realize. Also, there are things that we find that we thought we dealt with and were over, but we aren't. It's okay to admit and ask God to help us. The search is to help us. God wants to help us (Isaiah 55:7) and I'm so grateful for that π! He will also send people who will help us. You're not alone in the search- we're in this together! We all have to search our hearts daily. When we search in silence, the old can be taken out and the new can come in (Matthew 9:16-17). So, what do you say?! Let's take a close up look at our hearts through God's Word, find a quiet spot, and search away!! Love and blessings to all!
