Remember When...
Memories. Memories can bring smiles, laughs, and cries. Memories can bring moments of hurt, reflection, curiosity, frustration and disappointment. Memories can bring moments of heartache and what-ifs, but also future possibilities and dreams. Memories. They are always with us! I know all memories don't feel good and some we don't even like to think about or talk about. Even in the hurtful memories, we can know God was there with us. Today, I want us to think about all the things God has done for us π. Let's have a "remember when" about God. In the book of Deuteronomy in the Bible, there is a whole chapter that is titled "Do Not Forget the Lord." That is in Deuteronomy chapter 8. In this chapter, God is reminding his people the Israelites of how he kept them and brought them out of the wilderness after 40 years. He reminded them of the manna bread he provided for them to eat (v. 2-3). Now, here's the next reminder that blows my mind EVERY single time I read it: "Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years." Whew! God is a Keeper and Provider!! That's a long time not to have to buy new clothes or shoes. It doesn't take much for clothes to get worn, snag, or not fit anymore, but none of that happened for the Israelites. That was ALL God π!! That's the "remember when" God reminded his people of in the book of Deuteronomy. What about us on today? I know we all have a "remember when" that God has done for us. Here's some of my "remember when":
-I can remember when I lost my Daddy and Momma unexpectedly. I didn't know how I was going to make it, but God continues to stand by me and helps and comforts me daily.
-I can remember when I was still a teacher assistant at the school. All the classes and tests I had to do seemed like a lot. I graduated with my Master's degree in 2021 and passed all my teacher tests- to God be the glory! So, now I stand before you as a 6th grade English Language Arts teacher because God helped every step of the way π.
-I can remember when I had a blood transfusion five years ago as a result of blood work results and my surgery two years ago and how God brought me out! I still have the scars from the surgery, but I'm thankful God was there.
-I can remember when I first started off blogging and I was thinking how I am going to have enough to write about. Well, seven years later, I'm still blogging- praise God!! Blogging has also evolved into becoming an author and newspaper columnist for my local newspaper- all God π.
-I can remember when I felt behind in life and not feeling hopeful about things, but God reminded me (along with others) my timeline is not like anyone else's. I'm thankful for the open doors and journey God currently has me on. I'm so grateful!
-I can remember when God protected me from things and people that meant me no good. I'm so grateful for how God continues to protect me!
When life gets loud or you simply need an encouraging reminder, think about a "remember when" that God has done for you. Remember God continues to look out and protect us daily. Memories will come and go, but let's never forget what God has done for us. He does something for us every day. Remember when! God bless you π!!
