Stay Connected

To connect with someone or something means to join to or associate with it. Like never before in our world, people are connected to technology. At every turn, someone is on their phone, iPad, tablet, computer, etc. Technology has made it easier to connect with anyone from anywhere. Social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram allows you to send messages, posts, videos and pictures that can be viewed by millions in a matter of seconds. News and pictures that used to take days and months to hear and see can now be received instantly. Now there is nothing wrong with social media when it is used in a positive way. We connect a lot with others throughout our day. But what about connecting with God? How many times during the day do we check in with Him? If we would be honest, we don't check in with Him like we should. I know I have work to do in that area. The good news is that God loves each of us so much that He gave His only son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. After Jesus died, He was buried and rose again. You can accept Jesus today and have a personal relationship with Him. God wants you to accept Jesus. God wants us to connect with Him daily. We can connect with God through prayer and His Word. Prayer is talking to God. We can talk to God at anytime, anywhere about anything. The Bible says in I Thessalonians 5:17, "Pray without ceasing." We can tell Him our problems, concerns, issues, desires and secrets. He won't tell anyone else about them! We can thank Him for who He is in our lives (Provider, Protector, Strength, Help) and what He has done and will do in and for us. By connecting in prayer, we will be strengthened and helped. We also need to connect with God by studying His Word. God's Word never changes! We need to study the Word every day. The Word gives us instructions, encouragement, strength, and help along life's journey. Psalm 119:105 says, "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." God's Word will guide us in the way we should go and never lead us wrong. Staying connected to God will keep us on the straight and narrow path. In addition to praying and studying the Word, we need to have healthy and strong connections with others. Let's connect with others by calling, texting, emailing, visiting, giving a card, or writing a letter. Let's show others that we care and are thinking about them. Get connected to a church where you can learn, grow and make healthy connections with other believers. The right connections are so important! In the hustle and bustle of life and our desire to connect to technology all the time, let's not forget the face-to-face interaction and phone call where you can hear a voice. Let's not forget to connect with God and others often and daily. Most of all, let's stay connected!

  1. Thank you, Jen, for reminding me to connect with God as often (at the very least) as I connect with family and friends.
