In The Midst

When we're in the midst of something, we're in the middle of it. We're surrounded by it. In our world, we are surrounded by news and social media at every turn. We are surrounded by the pandemic and panic it has brought. Even though that's what we're surrounded by, we can still have the right attitude while going through. Yes, it has affected all of our lives in some way. Yes, we need to acknowledge what's happening. But, we also need to know we can get through it. We can have the right attitude when we know that God surrounds us. While we see what's surrounding us globally and as a nation, what about our personal lives? I want us to take a minute and evaluate and look at ourselves. What have we been surrounding ourselves with? What has become bigger than God in our lives? Is it negativity? Drama? Unhealthy relationships? Unhealthy habits? Comparing ourselves with others? Past mistakes God has already forgiven us for?  In Zephaniah 3:17, it talks about how our God in the midst is mighty and He will save. He is all powerful and big enough to surround everything. He's got us in our personal lives and in the world around us. Through the struggles, pain, hurt, disappointments and frustrations, He's right there. So knowing that God surrounds us should make us mindful of what we surround ourselves with. We need to ask ourselves daily what are we in the midst of. Instead of being in the midst of negativity and drama, we should want to be in the midst of what's good, what's right, what's positive. We should want to be in the midst of encouragement, healthy relationships, right living, peace, thankfulness. We should want to be in the midst of things and people that build us up and not tear us down. That means we have to be careful what we watch and participate in on YouTube and social media. That means we have to watch conversations we listen in on and take part in. Every day, we can work on being in the midst of what's going to help us and not hurt us. We need to be in the midst of taking action for what's right that helps a situation or conversation, not makes it worse. And let's always remember that God is with us. He is in the midst of us. For that reason my brothers and sisters, we shall not be moved!
