Seasons Change
Spring. Summer. Winter. Fall. 4 seasons. Very different, yet similar in ways. Every season has to be experienced. The seasons have many noticeable changes and then some not so noticeable changes. We see the leaves changing colors in the fall and new life springing up in the spring. Then sometimes it seems like the seasons run together and we have a really cold day in fall or it snows in the spring (which has really happened!). Just like there are 4 different seasons we experience in nature, we also experience different seasons in our lives. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, "There is a time for everything, and everything on earth has its special season." Every season has a purpose. Every season of our lives is different marked by noticeable changes and some not so noticeable at first glance. Something is happening at every season. It's up to us to look for it and find out what it is, The seasons in our life will teach us, grow us, enlighten us, cleanse us. We have different seasons in relationships- single, dating, engaged, married, separation, widowed. It's all necessary. Some things have to fall off in order for new things to come. Sometimes preparation is needed so it can be stored and ready for future use in the next season. Seasons will include challenges, setbacks, heartaches, and loss. You may experience some at the same time or in different seasons. I've experienced all of these, especially here in 2020. We can be encouraged to know the seasons will change. In the meantime, there are some things I've learned that we can do in all seasons. First, find something to be thankful for. I know it's easy to look at what's going wrong, but let's look at what is going good. In this season especially I'm going through, I'm always making sure to be thankful that I'm still here. A lot could have took me out, but didn't! That's a good place for a shout right there!! We have to get a "I'm still here" praise in our seasons. Second, reflect and take the lessons from the season. There's a learning opportunity if you look closely. Next, you can prepare for the next season now. In the physical, buy new equipment or check equipment to make sure things are working properly (helpful tip: cold weather tells on a lot of things, so pay close attention when it gets cold especially!). Stock up on certain food items and other items you may need. Clean out closets and other spaces in your house to make room for new. Ask yourselves what skills or actions you need to take now to be ready for the next season. Finally, we need to keep on praying. I Thessalonians 5:17 says, "Pray continually." Constantly talk to God and have heart-to-heart talks with Him (Him and I have had lots of those lately!). Tell Him everything- what you want and need, how you feel, what's bothering you. Tell it all and don't hold back. God wants to hear it all. As we're in our different seasons, let's be encouraged to do the things above while waiting for our season to change. In the meanwhile, friend, hold on because you can know the season will change.
