Remember The One
One may not seem like a lot, but one can make a difference. Athletes and coaches know that one can make a difference. When a team has scored one more point than the opposing team, that team is declared the winner. Any of us who have taken a test of any type also know that one can make a difference. When you get at least one more point more than the required score, you have passed the test. In both of the scenarios above, one made the difference. Jesus cared about the one too. In Luke 15:3-7, Jesus told a story about a shepherd who had 100 sheep and 1 got lost. Instead of shrugging it off and not worrying about the sheep, the shepherd took action. Verse 4 tells us he went looking for the lost sheep until he found it. That's how important the one was to him! Not only was he excited about finding his sheep, he shared the good news with others and they celebrated with him. Jesus wanted those listening to the story know the one was important. When we're posting on social media, let's remember the one who may need the encouragement. When you're going about your day, remember the one you may need to call, text or email. Perhaps no one else has checked in with them all day, but they just needed one person to make their day. Calling out the one person in prayer could turn their situation or perspective around. Sometimes when I'm on social media and I see a certain post, I'll debate in my mind whether I should post it or not. Sometimes it looks very similar to a post I already put up, but may be worded differently. Other times, I don't feel like posting anymore or I don't fully understand what it's saying and it doesn't apply to me at that particular moment. However, when the Lord tells me to post, I have to post. I have found that the posts I have debated about were the very ones that were liked by the one. In fact, I can remember one post in particular that someone commented "Needed this" and then she shared on her page so someone else could be encouraged. I'm so thankful I was obedient and shared the post! So now, when the hesitancy comes to my mind, God says to me, "Remember (name) and says her name very clearly to me. Her, along with others, have said the posts are inspiring and encouraging. Now when I post, I remember the one. Now when I write, I remember the one. It's a new perspective that can help you not get caught up in the numbers. If more than one is encouraged and helped, that's great! But if it's for the one, that's great too! Let's learn to be grateful for the one who listens, reads, tunes in, likes, comments and helps. If we think back to the story Jesus told, the one was just as important as the 100. Whether 1 or 100, keep influencing. Keep making a difference. Keep being you!
