Refill Anyone?

Imagine you are at your favorite restaurant and you're eating a really good meal. Along with that meal, you have your favorite drink. Now let's imagine at your restaurant you can get a refill of your drink. Since your drink tastes so good, you definitely decide to get a refillπŸ˜ƒ! So when you're finished with one glass, you get it filled up again. At some restaurants even, the waiter or waitress will ask do you want more drink in your glass before it is empty. They took notice and refilled accordingly. To refill something means to replace something that was once filled. The prefix re- means to "to do again." In the physical state, we need to fill our body with water during the day so we can stay hydrated. Of course, it's not enough to drink 1 cup or 1 bottle of water, but we have to keep getting the cup or bottle filled again throughout the day. We need to constantly check in with ourselves to make sure we are getting enough water in our body. We have to be intentional about picking up our bottle or cup and drink our water. This requires us to stay present and take notice of our actions. In the same way we want to stay hydrated, we should want to be filled with energy. We do a lot in the course of one day. The tasks and day itself can be overwhelming and leave us feeling drained. Before the day is over, we need our energy to be restored. We need to be refilled with strength, hope and rest. That's where taking time to notice comes in. We know our body and mind better than anyone elseπŸ‘€. We need to pay attention to the signs when we become slower than usual, getting more easily distracted and forgetting things we once remembered. I know we live in a world that encourages us to be on the go and that success equals to being busy. However, we can't be effective and at our best when we are drained. We have to learn when to do something and when to be still πŸ‘. I'm constantly learning and reminding myself of this one! We have to get our refill every day and several times within the day when needed. In the Bible, it talks about what we can be filled with and what God wants to fill us with. God wants to fill us with good things (Psalms 103:5). We want to be able to enjoy those good things! In order for us to fully enjoy them, we need to get those refills of rest. Our bodies were not made to be on the go all the time, but to get refilled often. We need to learn to sit and be still, which I know is harder for some of us more than others. Yet, it is something we have to discipline ourselves on and work on daily. God also wants to fill our mouth with good things (Psalms 81:10). When we get refilled, we talk different and have different conversations. We should be grateful that God's love and faithfulness fill the earth. We should let them fill our hearts over and over again πŸ’—. We want to be able to love God, ourselves and others properly. We should want to be faithful in all we do. We want to be able to show up for God, ourselves and others. Now thinking back to our restaurant example, there may be a limit on how many refills we can get or no refills at all. When it comes to us in our personal lives though, we can get as many refills as we need πŸ‘. As a matter of fact, it's highly recommended that we get as many as we can. Get your breaks. Stop. Regroup. Take time to be still. Fill up again and again on what's good, healthy and helps us become whole. Fill up again and again on love, rest, strength, hope. Paul said it best in Romans 15:13: "Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe." Now that's a refill I could get over and over againπŸ˜€! Refill anyone?!
