What Are You Running To?
In our day to day routine, we go from one activity to another. We may go from one place to another. We may go from one place to another. As we move throughout our day, sometimes we go quickly, while other times, we may go slowly. Regardless of the pace we go, we are desiring to have a certain outcome or reaching a certain destination. Sometimes, we do find ourselves running rather than walking to where we are going. When you run, you're going at a fast pace. What have you been running to lately? What is grabbing your attention? What is taking up your energy? The Bible in Proverbs 6:19 tells us what God doesn't want us running to. The verse says, "A heart that plots wicked schemes, feet eager to run to evil." We should definitely not be running to evil. We should not be running to wrong choices, habits, and conversations. Those are not worth our time or energy. They will leave us feeling drained. However, running isn't always a bad thing π. I remember one time when I was younger, and my Mom, Dad, brother and I were in the Charlotte Airport. We had taken a flight out of Norfolk, but we had to do a flight change at the Charlotte Airport. Our destination was Atlanta, Georgia π! Well, we had to run to catch our flight. If we didn't run, we weren't going to make it to our destination! So, I remember as a 13 year old girl running through the airport with my luggage and losing one of my keychains (a mini basketball π). It fell off my mini backpack I was wearing. Back then, I loved collecting keychains and mini backpacks!! There was a time that I stopped wearing my mini backpacks, but I'm back to rocking them now π. Let me tell you, I was so devastated that I lost my basketball! I remember looking behind me and seeing my basketball bouncing away. I wanted to go after the basketball so bad, but Daddy said I couldn't go back to find it. He told me I could always get another keychain because we had a flight to catch and couldn't be late. Daddy was using wisdom π. Now, as a 13 year old, I did not want to hear that about my keychain. Eventually, I got over it and moved on. The good news is that we made it on our flight! Thank goodness Daddy convinced me not to go back and run after it! I may have missed the chance of a lifetime, which was going to Atlanta, Georgia for the first time. That was a great family trip! Yes, I lost my basketball keychain that day, but it could be replaced as I did buy other keychains after that day. What have you lost lately? Is it something small like my keychain or something bigger? Did you lose something that was adding or taking away from your life? There are some things we need to lose, while other things we need to keep. Today, I encourage you to reflect and take a close look every day at what you're running to π. You see, that day when I was running in the Charlotte Airport, I was running for a good reason. If it's weighing you down, you should let it go. If it's causing you to feel unworthy or unloved, let it go. We are all worthy and loved π!! Don't run to drama, negativity, unforgiveness, pride, and draining relationships. We should be running to what's good, healthy, supportive, and uplifting. We should be running to growth, new experiences, and producing good fruit (Galatians 5: 22-23). I want to leave you with this last verse to reflect on. That verse is Proverbs 4:26, which says, "Carefully consider the path for your feet, and all your ways will be established." Let's consider what we're running to every day. Let's run to enjoy every moment of every day as we board the plane of life!! Ready, set, SOAR!! Until next time, I love you and may God bless you ππ!!
