Double Check

As a teacher, I know I say this to my students many times throughout the day. I say this in regard to reminding them to put their name on their paper (the struggle in 6th grade is real!) and in completing an assignment fully. I have had students not complete the back of sheets because they didn't listen to the directions, they were rushing, or they didn't think to double check the back of the sheet. When it comes to their writing, I remind them to double check their sentences for punctuation, capitalization, subject, verb, and clarity. Checking something becomes second nature after doing it for a while 😊. Double checking doesn't just apply to school assignments. It could apply to paper work, supplies and items you need to use, bags of purchased items, physical appearance, making sure you left nothing behind, closing up a house or business while you're away, and so much more! We should also double check text messages and emails for errors before hitting send 😊. I'm guilty of misspelling words or missing a word from the sentence because I was rushing and didn't take time to double check. I try to remind myself to double check before sending. I try to check what I'm communicating in words, so everything sounds the way it should. In our personal lives, we need to double check how we're living, what we're doing with our energy and time, who we're spending time with and what makes us happy. In other words, we need to double check our priorities. This is so important to do often πŸ’—. However, with another year almost coming to a close, I thought it would be even more fitting to be mindful to double check our lives. As we prepare to enter a new year, let's take a closer look at what we have and don't have, our attitudes and actions, our environment, our relationships, interests, and hobbies. Let's see if they benefit us at all.  Let's also remember to slow down and not rush. It can happen with the writing and assignments I talked about earlier, but that can also happen with life in general. Let's make sure we are looking and listening carefully. Proverbs 8:33 reminds us to "Listen to instruction and be wise; don't ignore it." Let's be sure that we are checking how we live daily. Let's make sure we are living for God. In the days left of 2024 and the 2025 year approaching, let's be more intentional πŸ’—. May we double check the messages we send and memories we want to make. May we take time to slow down and be our best self πŸ’—. May you all be blessed πŸ™!
