At the Right Place, At the Right Time

"That was perfect timing." "I'm so glad I was here to see or hear that." Have you ever said that before or heard someone else say that before? I know I have said them before! When you're at the right place at the right time, it causes you to be so thankful! You would have missed seeing a certain person or hearing a certain word of encouragement if you had not been at the right place at the right time. Every place we go and every stop we make is for a reason. Every person we meet is for a reason. In fact, everything that happens in our life's journey is for a reason. Do we always know the reason? No, but with God, we can always know there is a reason. With God, it's not just any reason; it's a good reason! We may not always understand the reason right away, but we can trust that God knows what He is doing. God does everything with purpose and nothing by accident. Being in the right place at the right time changed one man's life forever in the Bible. His name was Zacchaeus. We can learn more about his story in Luke 19:1-10. Here's what we know about Zacchaeus: he was short, rich and collected taxes. One day, Zacchaeus heard that Jesus was going to be going through the town Jericho. Zaccahaeus wanted to see Jesus. Now the day that Jesus goes through the town, there are a lot of people gathered! Since Zacchaeus was short and couldn't see anything because of the crowd, he decided to climb up a tree and sit there so he could have a better view of Jesus. Well, as Jesus went through Jericho, he definitely saw Zacchaeus! In fact, verse 5 of Luke 19 tells us that when Jesus saw Zacchaeus, he told him to come down from the tree because he had to go to his house. Jesus wanted to go to Zacchaeus' house. I know Zacchaeus was excited! He only wanted to see Jesus, but he got so much more: a personal visit from Jesus Himself! You see, Zacchaeus was at the right place at the right time. When Jesus was visiting Zacchaeus' house, he made some life changing decisions. First, he decided he would give money to the poor. Second, he said he would give money back to all he owed. He said he would give people back more money than he owed them. Jesus had really touched his heart and his life would never be the same! What if the crowd had been smaller? Zacchaeus would not have had any reason to climb the tree. What if Zacchaeus had never climbed that tree to see Jesus? Jesus may not have talked with him personally and visited his house! Our life can change too by being in the right place at the right time. Seeing a certain person or action or hearing the right words can make a positive impact on us. Sometimes, it's not always about others giving us an encouraging word. Sometimes, it's God wanting us to say an encouraging word or doing something kind for someone else. Saying or receiving the right word at the right time can be priceless. God will always make sure that we are at the right place at the right time. When it happens, we are so glad! Throughout each day, let's keep our eyes and ears open to what God wants to do. We never know when we will be the giver or receiver or both of positive change happening. As we saw with Zacchaeus, great things can happen when we're at the right place at the right time!
