The Comeback

Have you ever watched or played in a game where one team was way behind the other team in points? It didn't look good for the losing team! But, then all of a sudden, points on the losing team's side of the scoreboard start to go up and up. Before you know it, they have caught up with the other team in points or even passed them. That didn't just happen randomly. The team had to come up with a plan. They had to take time outs and regroup. They had to start working harder and better together. Perhaps they had lost the last game and didn't want another defeat. Perhaps they were tired of being down. Perhaps they started to see possibilities and not problems. Just when the spectators in the crowd thought the other team had sealed the deal, here comes the other team making a comeback! That's how it has to be in our lives. I know some situations look like a total loss with no hope left. I know there are goals and dreams that you have that look like they will never be accomplished. I know you feel that there is no way I am bouncing back from this. I'm here to tell you that yes you can. You and I can make a comeback! We can get back up. There are some strategies we can use to get back up. One strategy we need is prayer. We need to talk to God and let Him talk to us. We need to ask God to restore and renew us. We need to ask Him to show us how to take action towards the goal or dream we have. He will help guide us in the right way. Another strategy we need is to read God's Word. Not only should we read the Word, we should be living the Word daily. Knowing God's Word will help us speak and stand on the truth. Another strategy we need to have is the right mindset. Thinking right things is so important! A comeback requires a winning attitude that starts in the mind, then follows with actions. We have to see ourselves winning and overcoming. We have to be thankful for where we are and for what we have, but also thank God in advance for where He's taking us to. We have to be determined to endure. Once we decide to regroup, we need to decide on an action plan. It may have to be reached a different route than you thought, but you'll get there. Just like the team had to regroup and come up with a plan to get their points up, we have to decide a plan also. It will require you setting aside time each day to work towards your goal. It may require you putting down your phone more when all you really want to do is scroll through social media. It may require asking questions and connecting with others for resources. God will help and lead you to exactly what you're supposed to do. Keep going- the end goal is closer than you think! One of my favorite people in the Bible made a comeback: Joseph! Joseph's brothers were very jealous of him and had him thrown in a pit. From there, he was sold into slavery in Egypt. He worked for the highest leader there and then was accused of doing wrong he hadn't even done. In spite of all of that, Joseph kept being faithful and obedient to God. Eventually, he became the second highest ruler in Egypt! What a comeback! His comeback was able to help his family during the time of famine. To read Joseph's story in its entirety, read Genesis 37-42. It's powerful! You see, our comeback doesn't just help us; it helps those connected to us. Today can be our day of comeback. We can work through that situation. We can take steps toward our dream or goal. We may be down, but we don't have to stay down. Let's get back to a healthy lifestyle, healthy connections, healthy outlook on life. It's not over. It's time to make a comeback!
