Think Good. Be Good. Do Good.
We are currently in the season where there is more emphasis on doing good. However, we should focus on goodness all-year round. Today I want to talk to you about thinking, being and doing good. What has been on your mind lately? We are always thinking about something. Our thoughts do matter and are very important. Our thoughts lead to the words we say and actions we make. We should constantly check our thoughts. We need to make sure they are positive and line up with God's Word. Now I know this is not always easy as things around us can look very discouraging, but we have to keep working on it. In order to know if our thoughts line up with God's Word, we must know what the Word says. That means we must take time to read and study the truth of God's Word, so we'll know what we should be thinking. Philippians 4:8 tells us exactly what thoughts we should allow to stay in our mind. Thoughts that are going to help and uplift us are what we should concentrate on. Thoughts that are true and honest are what we should be thinking about. Focusing on right thoughts, such as "It's going to get better," "God's got me," "I'm making progress," and "I'm further along than I was," will get us through our days. Negative thoughts will try to come, but it's up to us to knock them down and replace them with positive thoughts. So, let's think good. As we think good thoughts, we also need to have a desire to be good (Proverbs 11:23). We should want to be our best and be good everywhere. We should be good when people see us and when people don't see us. Remember God is always watching us (Proverbs 15:3). Along with thinking and being good, we should want to do good. Galatians 6:10 says, "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith." We should do good in our actions. We should help others as we are able to. We should especially help our brothers and sisters in God's family. Just like blood family should look out for each other, brothers and sisters in God's family should look out for each other as that's what we are called to do. At the end of the day, our actions speak louder than our words. Make sure your actions point others to God's goodness. We have something to be grateful for every day. Goodness needs to be acknowledged and seen in our world now more than ever. So in this season and every season, let's remember to think good, be good, and do good.
