Look Up!
Life. It can get real busy. Depending on what time of the year it is can, it can get extra busy! When we have a lot going on, we tend to get overwhelmed and the mental to do list running through our mind seems to get longer and longer. It's in those moments that I have to stop and look up from whatever I'm doing. I have to pause and take that mental and physical break. Sometimes we can get so consumed in the work we're doing or the phone or computer screen we're scrolling and looking at that we forget it's okay to take a break. It's okay to look up π. It's something I have to constantly remind myself of. You see, I'm the "once I start, I want to finish" girl, but I also am learning to be the "It's okay to take a break from what you're doing" girl. It's okay if something has to be left to finish the next day. In fact, it's healthy to do so. We can bring physical strain on our eyes looking at screens too long. We can become physically exhausted trying to do too much at one time. When we look up, we've allowed our focus to be off what had us consumed. Our focus then turns on to a break and moment to breathe. So many times when I have walked into a restaurant or store, I have observed lots of people looking down on their phones. I know it's tempting and I'm guilty of doing it too, but let's try to look up from our phones more, especially when we're having a conversation with someone. Looking up lets the other person know they have your attention. We should also look up while we're walking. For so long, I didn't like who I was and let the talk and opinions of others get to me. Now, I realize that people are going to talk about me regardless and I love myself π. I now hold my head up high and look up. I have to encourage and remind myself when those thoughts to look down want to come in my mind. I have to say, "Not today," and look up. I'm thankful for my support circle who also reminds me to hold my head up high π. God wants us to look up. Psalm 145:14 in the Bible says, "The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down." I'm so grateful to God for lifting me up in the low places I've had in my life !! You can know God will be with you in the low places in your life as well. Psalm 121:1-2 says, "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, From whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth." The writer of this psalm realized he needed to look up to God. We too need to realize we can look up to God. We can do so at anytime and anywhere as He will help us, guide us, lead us and strengthen us π. We can look up in those times when we're feeling overwhelmed and don't feel like we're good enough. We can look up in those times we don't know what to do. God cares about us. I Chronicles 16:11 says, "Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always." Let's make it a habit to look up from what we're doing from time to time and be present with who and what's in front of us. Let's also make it a habit to look up while we're walking and pray to God always. I am enough. You are enough. We are enough π. Therefore, let's keep looking up!
