Naptime with My Favorite Girl

How many of you like to take naps? Some of you are quick to answer yes 😀. Some of you may say yes in hesitancy or say it depends on the situation. Still others may say no. You may even be the one that can fall asleep no matter where you are and what noise you hear around you. That was my Daddy - my favorite guy💙! I remember when we were on a bus trip one time. I look over and Daddy was sleeping sound even though the bus was noisy! Now, for me, I can't take a nap on a loud bus! A big shout out to those that can do that 😀! Now, I'm going to take you back a minute to elementary school when you had nap time. Do you remember that? I do. I also remember not liking naptime when I was in kindergarten. You might be wondering what child doesn't like naptime. This girl right here did not! I got in trouble at school because I didn't want to take my nap. Instead, I wanted to be curious and talk to my friends. Back then, I didn't appreciate the naps. Now, let's fast forward to now. Now, I appreciate all the naps (down time) I can get 💖.  I know the value of rest and I'm so grateful! Throughout my blogs, I share memories of my Mom and Dad I hold dear to my heart 💙💜. What you may not know is one of my favorite times to spend with Momma is when we had adult nap time. Yes, you heard that right...adult nap time 😀. In the evenings (either before dinner or after dinner), Momma and I would talk about our day together in our living room. One of us would sit on the couch, while the other one sat in the recliner. It varied depending on the day who got what spot 😀. The conversations always consisted of laughs because if you knew my Mom, she loved to laugh!! After we talked for a little while, we would take a nap in our spots (couch or recliner 💕) and be sound asleep resting. That was our adult nap time 💕😀.  No matter how long or rough my day had been, I knew everything was going to be alright because I was in the presence of my Momma. I knew it was a safe place and her presence was calming. Oh, how I miss her and her presence so, so much 💜💜!!! You see, when we're in the presence of our Father God, we can know that's a safe place. We can know that in His presence, we can have joy and peace. We can know everything is going to be alright. God wants us to sit and talk with Him, but He also wants us to rest. In Psalm 4:8, we see we can lie down in peace and dwell in safety. In Psalm 23:2-3, we see where God wants us to lie down in green pastures, lead us beside still waters, and refresh our souls. In Proverbs 3:24, we see where our sleep can be sweet. Rest is important to God 🙏. Therefore, it should be important to us. I know life happens and our days can get crazy busy, but let's not forget to rest. Let's not forget to have down time. All ages need to have naptime because we all need to be refreshed. My naptime is definitely not the same without Momma- my favorite girl 💜. I'm so grateful for the adult naptime I shared with my favorite girl!!  Now, I see the value of my rest and time spent with my Father God. So, whether it's 5 minutes or 50 minutes of your day, get your naptime in, spend time with God and rest on 💕!!

  2. This really made me miss my Mama! For about 3 months I spent every weekend with her. I was her substitute caregiver and would do housework for her, mage her meals, and do her laundry. I’d even turn down her covers and put a piece of chocolate on her pillow at bedtime.
But most of the time we spent talking. And enjoying each other. And dozing off as we’d watch tv. Oh, how I miss her!
The Lord seems to make resting a necessity as you get older. You learn to pace yourself and not over doing things. And it’s a good thing. After all, He rested after His 6 days of labor. If it was good for Him, I know it’s good for me.
