What Are You Letting In?
When entering a store, business, house, or new state, we may be greeted with a "Welcome" sign. At a ceremony or service you attend, someone may give a welcome to those in attendance. The welcome lets you know that you are received in a glad and friendly way π. Some of you may have a welcome mat or sign at your place of residence. However, at my house growing up, I rarely remember seeing a welcome sign, rug, or flag at our house. At our house, we like the outdoor flags and my brother and I still put them outside our house. I remember being at the store one day with my Mom and we were looking at flags and rugs. I also remember pointing out a welcome one and said how nice it looked. Then, Momma said something that totally threw me off guard! She said she didn't want to buy one that said welcome. In my mind, I'm thinking don't we want people to feel welcome when they visit us. So, curiosity rose up in me and I decided to ask why not. She gave me her reasoning and it rocked my world (in a good way because I had never thought about it like that before!) Are you ready for what she said?! She said you can't let just anyone and their spirit in your house. Whew! For those who of you who may not know, my Mom passed away 4 years ago. I have never forgotten her response and remember that every time I see a welcome sign. I think about it every time I look to buy a new outdoor flag at the house. I love flags, by the way π! The latest flag purchases were fall and home sweet home flags π. There's nothing wrong with your welcome sign and flag at your resident if you have one. However, my Mom's response to my question that day gave me a different perspective of welcome that I hadn't thought of before. The next time you look at your Welcome sign or see it somewhere else, think about what you're letting in your life. I want us to think about our physical space, but also what we're letting in our hearts and minds. Everything cannot be in our space. Wrong spirits, attitudes, and energy should not be welcome. If someone is not helping the situation or coming up with solutions to make it better, then it's a no to being let in. We have to know what we will accept and what we will decline. Knowing what decision to makes comes from knowing ourselves and spending time in God's Word π. God lets us know what's good and what's not good. The Bible says in Ephesians 4:27 says, "And don't give the devil an opportunity." We have to be careful of letting wrong spirits in our space. They will try to disturb our peace and that's not okay. In this season especially, we have to be careful of what we're letting in our spaces. Let's continue to be observant in our physical and mental spaces. It's important that we continue to protect our peace, growth, and love π. In this season and every season, let's welcome growth, peace, joy, love, sincerity, and only the best life has to offer. May God bless you all!
