Mix It Up!
Change can be good. Change can also be scary. Change doesn't always have to be big. Change does involve action and being open-minded. As most of you all know, I love to read π!! Up until recently, realistic fiction and mysteries have been my favorite, go-to genres. I decided to mix it up more recently in the genres I read and started reading some historical fiction. I like history and find it interesting, but I never could get in the genre. I had read one or two here and there, but then I would fall back on my go-to genres. However, this summer, all of that changed π! I joined a Facebook group online for book lovers and many of the people in the group kept posting historical fiction books. These books looked very interesting and eye-opening, so I decided to read a few and I loved them. Now, if you ask me what my favorite genre is, my answer is...historical fiction π!! I'm glad I decided to be open-minded and mix it up! Over the last five years, I have also mixed up something else...my hairstyles!! I have been loving my natural hair journey π. I like to get different flat twist styles and mix it up! My hair stylist loves how I ask for a variety of styles. Now, that hasn't always been me! Up until 2020, I always played it safe with my hair. It was in 2020 (pandemic time!) that I wore my natural curls out for the first time and that encouraged me to embrace my natural styles. From that, I was inspired to search online for different styles and mix it up! It's a leap of faith for me because I'm not sure if the style will look right on me, but it's worth the try. Now, you never what style I might pop up in π! I remember when I got my eye glasses for the first time in 2023. It was definitely a change and adjustment, but I have learned to embrace and see more clearly, of course. I love that they look classy π!! My last two mentions had to do with physical appearance, but it doesn't always have to do with the outside. It could be mixing up something in your routine (ex. listening to music while getting ready, change up the order of your routine, etc.). It could be eating something different at a familiar restaurant or going to a new restaurant altogether. It could be doing a different workout routine or doing it at a different time of day. It could be going out with family or friends on a day you normally wouldn't! It could be visiting a new place, riding a new ride at a fair or amusement park, or having a new adventure. It could be watching a TV or movie genre you normally don't. Do you remember when we were younger (or perhaps as an adult you did this) and you mixed paint colors together in art class or for fun? We didn't always know what color it would make, but we mixed it up anyway. We weren't afraid to mix it up and be creative π. In life, let's mix it up from time to time! From the routine to visiting a new place, it all counts π. Who knows? It could become a favorite thing of yours, just like historical fiction and flat twist styles are mine ππ. Here's to making it through August and looking ahead to all the great things September holds! May God continue to bless you all!
