Hold On To Your Treasures

Who or what is important to you? Take a minute to think about it. I'm sure some names and things come to mind. I know some come to my mind 😊! We value what is important to us. We treasure what is important to us. A treasure is something that is highly valued and cherished. We hold on to what we value. We appreciate what we value. We take care of what we value. What we talk about and post about often reveal our treasures. A treasure could be a material possession like a house, but it could also be something that is not tangible and can't be touched by physical hands like a memory. Our life is a treasure and should be valued πŸ’—. We should take care of ourselves, so we are feeling our best, looking our best, and doing our best. We should want to look good not just on the outside, but also on the inside. We should treasure the small things as well as the big things. We should treasure things that give us peace and bring us joy πŸ’—. Treasure the hug and handshake. Treasure the alone time and conversation time with others. Treasure the slow days as well as the busy days. Treasure the people you get to spend time with. Treasure God's Word and what God says in His Word. Treasure the wisdom found in God's Word that will lead you in the right direction (Proverbs 2:1-6). At the beginning of this month, my students and I read a short story called, "The Treasure of Lemon Brown" by Walter Dean Myers in class. I love the story! A lot of my students also did because that was the most liked story in the unit 😊! If you get a chance, you should definitely read it as it is a heartwarming story. Before we read the story, students wrote about what their treasure was, and it was great seeing the responses of what they cherished. Some said material possessions, but many named people in their life or a gift given to them by a family member or friend. It was beautiful to see! As I think back over my January so far, here are some of my treasures:

  • Phone calls and laughs with my people πŸ’œ
  • Inspiring and fun reads 😊
  • Encouragement and prayers from my peopleπŸ’–
  • Being able to attend a local Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. service where my cousin spoke- It was a great service! Bonus: I had the opportunity to introduce my cousin!
  • A wonderful lunch with my cousins and friend πŸ’–
  • Quarter 2 of school is completed!! Students are showing progress in reading 😊!!
  • Quiet days and slow mornings πŸ’œ
  • New memories with family and friends πŸ˜€
Treasure the good. Treasure every moment of every day. Treasure the lessons and blessings. Remember we are always God's treasured possession (Deuteronomy 14:2). Let's keep holding on to our treasures! Love and blessings to all πŸ’œ!!
